Indie quartet Carlon has a lead singer who may remind you of that guy who used to handle the vocals for The Hollies. Their album Johari Window sounds European and that's a compliment. Recorded in the 20,000 square foot warehouse rehearsal space (it's OK to be jealous) in Fairfield, New Jersey, the twelve songs have room to breathe and build.

The band were democratic about the recording proces, listening intently to each other's ideas and the result is a mixed bag of material that ranges form country to rock to pop, often within the space of a single track. A Johari window is a "cognitive psychological tool created by Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in 1955 in the United States, used to help people better understand their interpersonal communication and relationships." The sound and the atmosphere on the album keep it altogether. The result of this musical group therapy as it were, is a surprisingly lighthearted and optimistic album.
