They Might Be Giants: Here Comes Science

Brooklyn duo They Might Be Giants are one of those rare bands that cater to both the adult and kids music market. After releasing an album about he alphabet (Here Come the ABCs) and numbers (Here Come the 123s) the new CD/DVD set Here Comes Science is their most ambitious yet, tackling various subjects like Computer Aided Design, prisms and rainbows (Roy G. Biv), Photosynthesis and songs that will piss off creationists (My Brother The Ape, I Am a Paleontologist).

Most music that is especially written for kids is unbearably simple and sugary, but They Might Be Giants stick to their guns, using catchy New Wave breaks, pop and rock that adults can handle. Too bad that they used the rather obvious canon scheme for What Is A Shooting Star?, which sounds childish and cumbersome.

Kids will love Here Comes Science. The DVD has animated clips for all the tracks, with a few short spoken interludes.
