Danish singer-songwriter Kjartan Bue can conjure up the great wide open, like he is sitting on a porch somewhere in the Midwest of The USA. His new EP Man Riding Backwards is filled with rattlesnakes, rifles and dusty boots.
Sounding a bit like Paul Simon in the early stages of his solo career, he sings about the need to compromise (If I Don't Need You), doomed love affairs (Rosen and Danny) and his father (Man Riding Backwards. With his sparse acoustic guitar and percussion an blues harp wave an intricate tapestry. Bue is waiting to catch a wave that will take him across the Atlantic, teaching the natives the art of cliche free lyrics. A new folk poet is born.
