Jumble Hole Clough: Live at Northlight Art Studios, 17th December 2016

Colin Robinson's one-man project Jumble Hole Clough played a set at Northlight Art Studios in Hebden Bridge on 17th December, now available as a live album. He hits the ground running with the blistering Bursting Like A Cloven Sunfish, wringing organ-like sounds and heavily distorted noises from his guitar and drum machine set up. His loop skills are firmly in place throughout the show, laying a solid foundation for quite a bit of no holds barred shredding (On A Placid Island Of Ignorance).

Inventive improvisation techniques are required in this particular niche to keep the audience from second guessing your next move. Robinson's command of ambient, freak jazz and rock licks makes for yet another dose of adventurous avant-garde.

The uninitiated should start with the first two funky minutes of Possessed By Impossible Angles in order to prepare themselves for the syncopated Eddie van Halen meets Robert Fripp workout. If they can handle that, they are good to go to explore the rest of this fine example of English weirdness.
