Amy Correia: You Go Your Way

After releasing two albums on a major label, singer-songwriter Amy Correia (Lakeville, MA) goes DIY for her third full-length You Go Your Way. The bass ukelele is her main axe, a down-home instrument that stand its ground even during the orchestrated bits of the songs.

Correia sounds like a folkie Cyndi Lauper, with a rough but captivating phrasing. Lyrics are her forte. The angry but funny Powder Blue Trans Am about trying to catch a man or exposing the hidden fears of a loud-mouth chick City Girl, she is able to paint a lively picture of the song's protagonist.

You Go Your Way is nominated in three categories for the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards. After succeeding to raise over $35,000 to cover the costs for creating this album, Amy Correia proves that she's got it right and the major labels, once again, got it wrong.
