Jumble Hole Clough: Live at the Three Wise Monkeys

photo: Marcel Nally

UK avant-garde multi-instrumentalist Colin Robinson aka Jumble Hole Clough set up his gear at the Three Wise Monkeys in Todmorden, West Yorkshire on 25th January 2015 to perform six brand new compositions for "Sounds of the Underground". He was so pleased with the results of the recording made by Michael Linden West that he is now releasing as a warts-and-all live album. Robinson excels at setting the mood through loops that he created on the spot and uses his guitar as both melodic and rhythm enhancements of the basic structure of his music.

The nautical theme of the set flows like the tides of the sea, with occasional cascades of notes serving as eddies and whirlpools. Smooth sailing is not an option for Robinson who steers clear of cliches and predictable chord progressions. Live at the Three Wise Monkeys is an exercise in adventurous prog. File under guitar inventors like Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew.

Live at the Three Wise Monkeys is a self-released album. Buy it (pay-what-you-want) from his website.
