Is the sum greater than its parts? Psychedelic rock band MIEN are off with a good start with Bad Habit, the lead single of their self-titled debut album (out on Rocket Recordings on April 6th).
Alex Maas (vocals, samples, loops - The Black Angels), Tom Furse (keyboards, programming - The Horrors), Rishi Dhir (bass, sitar, keyboards - Elephant Stone) and John-Mark Lapham (keyboards, samples, programming- The Earlies) mix an Eighties industrial drum sound with Sixties melodies, a clash of styles that works out pretty good. Dark and foreboding, but served with elegance.
